American Cancer Society
Relay for Life
Team AKA: " The Pink and Green"

On a chilly day and even colder night (May 18-19, 2007), Gamma Gamma Omega members participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life held at Carrier Park in Asheville.  The event, Relay for Life, is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back.

Members of Gamma Gamma Omega have been touched by cancer in some way, by either being a survivor or having family members and friends that have had cancer. Because of this, the members felt that this was an important event to support.  Gamma Gamma Omega member, Soror Marion Thompson led the survivor walk and kicked off the walking part of the event.   The Chapter raised over $1700.00 through donations, auctions and purchased luminaries to honor those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived, especially members of the chapter.
