The Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, along with the Asheville Branch of the NAACP and the League of Women Voters, co-sponsored a political forum of the Asheville City Council Candidates . The forum was held at the Brown Temple CME Church in Asheville on October 10, 2007. Eleven of the twelve candidates answered questions submitted by members of the audience. The questions reflected concerns of economic disparity, education and recent gang activity within the Asheville area. Minister Wayne Purcell was the Master of Ceremony. The event was well attended by the community.
