Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter was chartered on March 31, 1940 in Asheville, North Carolina. The Charter members were Marian P. Watts, President; Helen Butler, Vice-President; Dorothea Cowan, Recording Secretary; Georgia Peters, Corresponding Secretary; Daisy Booker, Dean of Pledges and Ivy Leaf Reporter.
Gamma Gamma Omega's agenda of activities for the year 1944 included a community health project, financial aid to the Friendship and Goodwill Nursing Homes, the Asheville Colored Hospital, and the Western North Carolina Hospital Fund. A used clothing drive was held for the nursing homes.
As its educational project, Gamma Gamma Omega awarded a scholarship to a high ranking and worthy pupil from the colored city high schools.
The officers were Carey L. Patterson, President; Catherine Chappelle, Vice-President; Henriette Goodwin, Corresponding Secretary; Anne P. Johnson, Recording Secretary; Helen P. Wilkins, Treasurer; Mamie Howell, Dean of Pledgees; Lucy Herring, Inside Door Keeper; Dorothea S. Cowan, Outside Door Keeper; Louise M. White, Greeter; and Lillie J. Dusenbury, Ivy Leaf Reporter.
