"We can chart our future clearly and wiselyonly when we know the path which hasled to the present"—Adlai Stevenson
Nine Howard University students were led by Ethel Hedgeman Lyle into a sisterhood in 1908 known as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Nellie Quander and her gallant group contributed the added dimension of a national organization and perpetual membership. The founders, incorporators and those who have come after them -- the never-ending stream of eternally young, hopeful enthusiastic women -- must be remembered.
