Gamma Gamma Omega sorors are concerned about the low achievement level of many black students, especially in the Asheville-Buncombe County area. In view of this, Gamma Gamma Omega encourages black students to strive for academic excellence by recognizing and rewarding those students who have been outstanding in their respective schools. Gamma Gamma Omega awards three students academic scholarships totaling $2,000 and recognizes students for their scholastic achievements. The academic scholarships can also be matched through the Presidential Freedom Scholarships.
The award ceremony and reception is held annually in May.
